10 Times Ned Flanders Was Indeedily-Doodily The Funniest Character In The Simpsons

3. When He Finally Released All That Pent Up Anger In A Glorious, Ridiculous Rant

On the subject of Flanders’ unusual manner of speaking, this hadn’t really been addressed prior to Season 8 episode “Hurricane Neddy.” Here, we get to witness the mild-mannered man at his angriest, and it’s pure gold.

This episode delves into Flanders’ past a little. He had been the poorly-behaved child of two parents who lacked the will to discipline him at all, and a childhood psychiatrist’s cure left the adult Ned unable to really voice his anger at all.

When a hurricane destroys only Flanders’ house, he starts to question his faith. The people of Springfield attempt to reconstruct it, but do such a poor job that it falls apart again. At this, Ned erupts into a verbal tirade levelled at… just about everyone.

He ruthlessly tears into everyone from Bart to Chief Wiggum: “What do we have here? The long flabby arm of the law? The last case you got the bottom of was A CASE OF MALLOMARS!”

Perhaps the best part of all of this is Ned later learning to cope with his anger, telling his friends and neighbors that he’ll be sure to let them know if they irritate him rather than keeping it inside “…and if you really tick me off, I’m gonna run you down with my car.”
