10 Times Star Trek Actors Got Arrested
3. Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy played Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002. This would serve as the actor’s first attempt at a breakout role, though Warrior or Bronson may better deserve the title. Nemesis would, unfortunately, fail at the box office, which served as a disappointment to Trekkies, however, few took this as badly as Hardy himself.
As a teenager, he had repeated run-ins with the law. As a young man from a suburban, priveleged and peaceful upbringing, he told interviewers that he felt the need to rebel against his life, and was introduced to drugs as an 11-year old befoer graduating up from sniffing glue to an addiction to crack cocaine. He once stated that, at his most dependant, he would have sold his own mother for a rock of crack.
At age 15, he stole a Mercedes Benz and was arrested for joy-riding. There was a gun in the car, which meant that Hardy was lucky to escape serious jail time. He would continue to experiment with drugs until 2003 when he checked himself into rehab and, while the failure of Nemesis led to a relapse, he has been proudly sober since this stint.
