10 Times Star Trek Gave Fans EXACTLY What They Wanted

8. Seven Of Nine (Picard)

Jeri Ryan was and remains one of the best additions to Star Trek Voyager, as she brings a wonderful sense of humanity to Seven's journey back to humanity. So, once the news broke that Seven was returning to the franchise in Picard, fans were overjoyed.

Though given a huge presence in the promotional material, it was initially unclear just how large of a role she would play. Her first appearance at the end of the fourth episode was a great cliffhanger and her subsequent revelations in Stardust City Rag were polarising. Much like Picard himself, this may have been Seven of Nine, but she was no longer the Borg that the fans remembered.

The fans needed more. The episode's conclusion sees her murder the woman who took her child from her before blasting her way out of a sticky situation. Her story could have ended there and there would have been uproar. This, while badass, was not the character's fate that was deserved.

So, when Seven returns to save Elnor, the fans breathed a sigh of relief. The producers and showrunner knew exactly how to tease her return without dropping it all into the first episode. She was then featured throughout the season, first as a maternal figure for Hugh's Ex-B's and then as seemingly the newest crewmember on the La Sirena. There is also a hint of a deeper relationship with Raffi.

All going well, this fantastic reintroduction will continue to develop into the second season and beyond.
