10 Times The Doctor Wasn't Very 'Doctory'

When the TARDIS first leaves Totters Lane, the Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbra, find themselves in the distant past, in 100,000 BC. On this first adventure, the original TARDIS team find themselves separated from the ship and held captive by cavemen.

In the third episode of the serial, whilst formulating an escape, the Doctor picks up a stone and goes for caveman Za but is stopped in the act by Ian. In this moment, the Doctor claims he was going to make the caveman draw a map, with the stone, back to the TARDIS. However, his gesture showed otherwise.

Whilst this episode is from the show’s earliest days, and the Doctor is yet to mellow due to the presence of his companions, this action of threatening to bludgeon a caveman’s head with a stone is a little too intense for what we know of the Doctor.
