10 Times The Worlds Of Doctor Who And EastEnders Collided

7. Michelle Collins

Michelle Collins left her mark on the Doctor Who universe when she guest starred as Kathryn McDonnell in the 2007 real-time episode 42. As the captain of the S.S. Pentallian, her character was certainly a formidable force to be reckoned with and Michelle's previous portrayal of adulterous homewrecker Cindy Beale in EastEnders definitely put her in good stead for that, although admittedly Kath wasn't quite that bad... As the long-suffering wife of Ian Beale (well, one of them!), things got so bad for Cindy that she even went as far as hiring a hitman to kill him at one point. Suffice to say, it wasn't enough to keep him down because he's immortal, apparently, and it was ultimately Cindy who popped her clogs when she eventually passed away during childbirth. Her character in Doctor Who was the victim of a rather unfortunate demise, too, when she heroically sacrificed herself by opening up an airlock and falling into a sun. If only Cindy had been that considerate, although she was far too busy bonking her way through Albert Square to spare a thought for anybody else. Poor Ian deserves a medal.
