10 TV Actors Who Hated Their Storylines
2. David Tennant Hated The Idea Of A Cross-Over Christmas - Doctor Who
There are some storylines that actors hated so much that they never made it to your screens, thanks to said actors giving them a hard pass and refusing to entertain the idea any further. One thing we can thank David Tennant for then is for us receiving The Next Doctor as we know it, because without his intervention we would’ve had something absolutely terrible.
The plan was to have JK Rowling’s Harry Potter come to life because of some sort of space bug, pitting the Dr Who cast against witches and wizards, and featuring a cameo from Rowling herself. The episode was written, JK Rowling interviews planned and then suddenly it all fizzled out to nothing. Why? Because Tennant has good taste.
Tennant is said to have hated the idea, thinking it sounded like a cheap gimmick rather than a genuine episode. Luckily for him, he was in a powerful enough position that his dislike for the idea was enough to have it changed. He didn’t want it to happen, he didn’t want to act in it, and fundamentally the showrunners had to “keep him happy.”
Thanks Tennant, that could’ve been absolutely god-awful.
