10 TV Characters That Disappeared Without A Trace

9. Valerie And Melody - Riverdale

Riverdale has a bad track record when it comes to their POC representation, it's something that has been highly talked about by fans, media and even stars from the show. It got so bad that the creator had to address the issue and promise to do better when it comes to representing its characters of colour.

But to really understand the issue we have to rewind a little bit, all the way back to season 1. When Riverdale started, fans of the Archie Comics were excited to be introduced a whole new version of some classic characters, including Archie, Betty and Veronica.

But one of the most interesting inclusions from the Archie Comics had to hands down be Josie and the Pussycats, a girl band that The CW had decided to cast women of colour in all the roles.

Riverdale's version of the Pussycats were fierce and empowered young woman that noted the imbalance of POC in the music industry. Sadly, the promise of this badass girl group being an integral part of the show was very quickly squashed.

From the get go Josie seemed to be the only character with any actual substance, delivering almost all the lines for the group and getting into most of the action. Valerie gets a short storyline when she starts dating Archie, but that's quickly ended and Melody gets no substantial storylines at all.

The two minor-character-pussycats are then randomly written out of the show in season 3 with no explanation. And with that people's expectations for Riverdale were also written out of the show...

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
