8. Ben Geller - Friends
Ben Geller was an important character on Friends. He was the son of Ross and Ross' ex-wife Carol, and he was integral to the development of Ross' character and his romantic relationships on the show.
At the beginning of Friends, Ben was played by a series of random babies and children, but in season 6 Cole Sprouse, or Jughead from Riverdale, came in to take on the role as Ben began entering childhood. Ben was now old enough to actually interact with other characters and develop more nuanced relationships with the main gang.
But when a one night stand between Ross and Rachel developed into an accidental pregnancy, it seemed the showrunners struggled to balance a truly blended family on the show; Ben was promptly written out just as Ross and Rachel's daughter Emma was born.
We never got to see Ben again, and although fans assumed he was probably just away living his life with his mum Carol and Carol's girlfriend Susan, a throwaway comment made by Ross' father left fans scratching their heads.
In an episode after Ben's vanishing, Ross' dad states that Emma is his first grandchild. People were rightfully confused by this, wondering whether they had completely imagined Ben in the first place.
