6. Cathy Simms - The Office

Jim and Pam fans rejoiced when this character disappeared.

Cathy Simms was a point of contention for a lot of Office fans, introduced in season 8 as Pam's maternity leave replacement. The show had put a lot of emphasis on the weight that Pam had put on during her second pregnancy; which was a little gross considering Jenna Fischer was actually pregnant with her first baby at the time.

Sadly the fat jokes only got worse when Cathy came into the picture, as she was the epitome of everything Pam was insecure about.

To make matters worse, Cathy ends up falling for Jim, and ends up spending her time on the Florida work trip trying to seduce him. She harasses him in his hotel room, and proceeds to gaslight Jim when he tries to let her down easy, telling him that he's ridiculous for thinking she wants him.

But when the Dunder Mifflin crew returns to Scranton, Cathy is nowhere to be seen. It makes absolutely no sense for her to just disappear, she was clearly from Scranton and had no connections in Florida, so why didn't she return to the company after the failed Sabre Store venture?

I'm sure Pam was very happy with Cathy going missing; maybe she even caused the disappearance?
