10 TV Characters They Couldn't Stop Recasting

6. Nanette Guzman - Cheers/Frasier

Game of Thrones Mountain
Paramount

Nanette Guzman, or "Nanny G," is Frasier's (Kelsey Grammer) first wife who is first introduced in a season ten episode of Cheers, where she's memorably played by the inimitable Emma Thompson.

Nanny then resurfaced almost an entire decade later in the ninth season premiere of Frasier, appearing as a young hippie in one of Frasier's memories, this time played by Dina Spybey.

And finally, Nanny showed up once more in Frasier's eleventh and final season, this time played not by a returning Thompson but recast yet again, with the great Laurie Metcalf taking the role.

While Nanny G is ultimately a minor character in the grand scheme of things, the fact that she's nevertheless an important figure in Frasier's past and was played by a future Oscar-winner (Thompson) and future Oscar nominee (Metcalf) is certainly an amusing look.
