10 TV Seasons That Are Practically Flawless
5. Breaking Bad: Season Four
One of the most popular shows of all time that has more faults than people care to remember. That being said, all five seasons are stellar and Season Four stands above the rest. After Jesse kills Gale, the tension is raised as it becomes clear that Walt and Gus are looking for the right moment to kill each other.
The Walt vs. Gus dynamic is Breaking Bad at its best with both Bryan Cranston and Giancarlo Esposito doing outstanding work throughout the season. They both attempt to manipulate Jesse into their schemes to destroy the other which continues to present Jesse as the real victim of this story and he remains sympathetic, even in the wake of becoming a murderer.
Season Four is full of iconic scenes from Gus and his box cutter to Walt's "I am the one who knocks" speech to the crawl space to the unforgettable finale and conclusion of Gus' arc. Walt loses his humanity here more so than ever before as his transition into Heisenberg is complete.
Breaking Bad Season Five may have the best episode of the show and a satisfying conclusion but it is Season Four that is the most consistently outstanding season of the show.
