8. Pantheon
Sticking with animation for now and moving over to AMC, where we find the adult sci-fi show Pantheon.
The show centres around the work of Logorythms, a dodgy tech company experimenting to preserve human consciousness via a Cloud-like storage system. Drawn into the fray are Katie Cheng's Maddie, whose father becomes part of the cloud, and a 17-year-old boy named Caspian, voiced by Paul Dano.
Once you get past the fact that Dano is 38, the show is really fun. It's got a good premise, looks fantastic, and the two leads are backed by heavyweight talent like Daniel Dae Kim, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Aaron Eckhart.
Cartoons aimed at adults are still a tough nut to crack and Pantheon has found this out the hard way. Despite receive a two-series order from the network, the show got shut down earlier this year.
Allegedly this is part of a tax cutting measure and nothing to do with the show's quality. We're not sure if that's more or less annoying.
Pantheon's second season does exist, so maybe it'll end up becoming a complete parody of itself and get saved from death by being uploaded to some data farm somewhere.
