10 TV Shows People Need To Stop Sleeping On
5. Deadly Class (SyFy)
When they aren't working on the beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Russo Brothers have been executive producing a show on SyFy. One that makes you realize that they have been holding back on us this whole time.
Simply put, Deadly Class is dark, gritty, and unique.
Set in 1987, the show follows Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth) a young man who lost his parents as a child and has been left homeless. He is recruited to Kings Dominion by Master Lin (Benedict Wong), and quickly learns that it is an academy of the deadly arts.
Students of the school are the children of mob bosses, members of drug cartels, and budding serial killers. The tension in the school is a whistling tea kettle that continues to rumble until it bubbles over. The show also tackles the topics of mental health, homelessness, and childhood traumas. Accounts of childhood memories are told over beautifully animated scenes, and when we're dragged back into reality we understand the character focused upon just a bit more.
Deadly Class is wicked fun that bites back.
