10 TV Shows Star Trek Actors Want You To Forget

8. Squirrel Boy - Michael Dorn

Squirrel Boy
Cartoon Network

Squirrel Boy was a largely inoffensive cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network from 2006 until 2007. It followed the adventures of Rodney, the squirrel in question and Andy, his best friend and owner.

Michael Dorn appeared in the second season as Rueben Beaumont, though you're unlikely to hear him talking very much about it. The series was cancelled quickly. The show was criticised for being dull and for doing nothing to advance the medium, opting to merely repeat the same jokes that have been told in other formats again and again.

The character designs also received harsh critique, with their art-house style jarring with the fact that this was a cartoon meant for children. Everett Peck, the show's creator, had also made a show called Duckman, which was aimed at adults. Where the whacky style suited a more mature audience, it was lost on the younger viewers.

One of the final nails in the coffin for the show was that it was aired against a much stronger selection of shows, highlighting the weakness of this cartoon. The voice acting received praise - Star Trek alumnus Kurtwood Smith appears in a main role - but it was not enough to save Squirrel Boy in the end.
