10 TV Shows That Are Returning Soon

7. The Equalizer

Based on a 2018 film - which is the sequel to a 2014 film, which is itself a reboot of a 1980s TV show - The Equalizer came full circle when it premiered in 2021.

Queen Latifah replaces Denzel Washington in the lead role (who himself replaced Edward Woodward) of Robyn McCall, a single mother and former CIA operative who uses her skills to help ordinary people in danger. Think The A-Team meets Gilmore Girls.

That's not an entirely fair description of the show, which has done so well that it's already had two seasons despite only starting last year!

The third season is due to begin on 2 October 2022, less than five months after Season 2 wrapped up. That season ended with McCall being kidnapped by a gang of mysterious assailants, so fans of the show are undoubtedly glad they haven't had to wait long to find out what's happened to Robyn.

Whilst not a critical darling, The Equalizer is decent viewing if you like your crime shows fun and formulaic. Also, producers have hinted at a possible crossover with the films, so if you've seen those but not the show, then now may be the time to start it.
