10 TV Shows That Have Already Been Cancelled In 2021

6. On My Block

On My Block
Netflix

This entry is something of a bittersweet moment. On My Block has been both renewed for a fourth season but confirmed that, after that, there will be no more episodes. The show is a comedy-drama and has received high praise for its depiction of everyday teen life, without being highly serialised.

Charming, realistic, and focused on underrepresented communities, On My Block is the respite from stylized teen dramas you didn't know you needed.

This not-so-subtle dig at Riverdale alludes to the first season of the show, in which the tonal changes and comedy are perfectly balanced. Writing for Vulture, Matt Seitz said:

One of the many remarkable things about this series is how it folds crime and the awareness of potential violence into everyday life, which is something white sitcoms never do unless it’s a Very Special Episode.

The show mixes the usual adolescent concerns of family obligations, friendships and romantic relationships with tough topics including gang culture, death and PTSD. The show jumped forward in time in the season three finale and fans are still waiting to hear when the fourth season will begin airing.
