10 TV Shows That Weren't Worth The Controversy
5. Lethal Weapon
As it turns out, the behind-the-scenes fracas on the set of Fox's resoundingly OK Lethal Weapon series turned out to be far more interesting than the show itself.
While the second season was airing, reports emerged of conflicts between stars Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, whose creative disagreements led to the pair barely speaking throughout production. Not a great look for a buddy cop dramedy series.
Though Lethal Weapon survived its whispered-about cancellation, Crawford was fired shortly after season two finished airing due to his volatile behaviour, being replaced with Seann William Scott, who played a new character for the third and ultimately final season.
Naturally Crawford's departure - and the sudden death of his character Martin Riggs - went down like a lead balloon with fans, but honestly, given that Lethal Weapon was a mediocre-at-best time-passer, it's little surprise that Fox cut their ties after just one more season.
A middle-of-the-road TV adaptation of a hit movie really shouldn't have necessitated so much drama.
