10 TV Shows To Fill That Doctor Who Shaped Void

5. The 100

The 100 channels The Hunger Games to bring us some YA, post-apocalyptic, sc-fi action drama. This series has its critics, but what show doesn€™t? The cast is ridiculously handsome but there€™s a feasible scientific explanation for that. The Sky People are all descended from astronauts so benefit from a prime gene pool. The Grounders are all survivors of nuclear radiation so only the healthiest survive and they€™ve mutated perfect teeth. The Mountain People never see the sun so they avoid premature aging and erm, well... The 100 is hardly the first show to rely on a good looking cast. If you want ugly, drop in at the local games store. For all its beauty, The 100 doesn€™t shy away from brutal action, bloody scenes and moral quandaries. With multiple factions, divided loyalties and inter-generational struggles, The 100 has more political storylines than the Battlestar Galactica reboot. If you want black and white factions then look elsewhere, this is a tale of choosing between the lesser of numerous evils. Learning a lesson from Game of Thrones, few of the cast is unkillable. Most deaths are telegraphed but that just adds to the tension. Not a show for the youngest, but if you have pre-teens and up then this should keep the family€™s attention until the Doctor returns.

Older than some and taller than most. Grey of eye and white of beard. Stephen's book 'Hiding', about a boy who meets a goblin in a local wood, is available to download from the usual places. Think of it as a scavenger hunt.
