10 Unintentionally Funny Doctor Who Moments

5. Navigating The Asteroid Field - The Tsuranga Conundrum

This is an episode that doesn't work for a number of reasons. The writers clearly couldn't decide whether we're supposed to be afraid of the Pting or laugh at it. All of the rooms on this spaceship look the same. Each guest character, perhaps with the exception of the pregnant man, is flat and uninteresting.

But one of The Tsuranga Conundrum's biggest issues is that you can tell exactly when it ran out of budget. In a climactic scene, the Doctor and two of the patients onboard the hospital ship Tsuranga must try and manually pilot the ship through an asteroid field to safety. And how is this ship piloted?

By the patients taking it in turns to stand in the middle of the room and waggle their fingers about a little. Complete with very intense concentrating faces. There is not even a single shot of the ship from the outside dodging its way through the asteroid field.

The contrast between how panicked the characters are and the total blandness of the accompanying visuals is hilarious and perfectly illustrates how tonally unbalanaced the entire episode is.

Owen Davies hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
