10 Upcoming New HBO Series To Be Excited About

1. The Last of Us

After many attempts at trying to bring Naughty Dog’s video game, The Last of Us to the big screen (including a permanently stalled version by director, Sam Raimi) the story has now found its home on the small screen.

This new treatment is being adapted by the Emmy-winning team of last year’s brilliantly brutal miniseries, Chernobyl, with writer Craig Mazin acting as showrunner, and director Johan Rench (who will also direct the show’s first episode) acting as executive producer. Mazin has stated that the series will follow the first game very closely, and may even incorporate elements of the newly released sequel as well.

The immensely popular video game has received widespread critical and audience acclaim for its innovative take of the post-apocalyptic zombie genre, and the new television show will hopefully follow suit.

Although, there is yet now word on who will play Ellie and Joel, the game’s leads; with such good pedigree behind the screen, as well as confirmed involvement by the game’s creator, Neil Druckmann, this series could be really quite good.
