10 Upsetting Children's TV Show Episodes That Gave You Nightmares

No one should really need to be told that Ren and Stimpy is terrifying. There's something about the show that just fundamentally does not feel like it was made for children.

It could be the off-putting animation style, the general tendency to do extreme close-ups on gross things, or the antagonistic relationship that exists between the sociopathic Ren and the gentle but dumb Stimpy. But there's definitely something going on that makes all viewers just...uncomfortable. Like you need to take a shower after watching it.

One of the scariest episodes that the show ever made (ignoring brief creepy imagery in other episodes, like the one where Ren plucks the nerve endings out of his toothless mouth using tweezers) was Space Madness.

Ren and Stimpy go into space, and slowly but surely the isolation and stressful living conditions start to get to Ren. He begins to go mad, constantly paranoid and culminating in a scene where he is insisting that Stimpy is trying to steal his ice cream bar (which is actually just a bar of soap). The off-putting factor is way off the charts in this one.
