The Doctors female Companions leaving him to settle down (often with a love interest) has been a recurring theme ever since Susans departure in 1964s The Dalek Invasion Of Earth and most recently seen with Rose and the Metacrisis Doctor in Journeys End (2008). As part of the ongoing drive to give Clara more characterisation of her own, she is being given a love interest this series in the form of Danny Pink (Samuel Anderson); a colleague of hers and the older brother of her troublesome student Courtney. It may be a case of putting two and two together and getting an outdated reason for the departure of a Companion, but the introduction of Danny and the rumours of Jenna Colemans departure coming so close together would seem to imply that the two are linked. Danny being the catalyst for Clara deciding to stop bumming around the universe while trying to hold down a full time job would be an interesting character arc and tie into Series 8s theme of the consequences of living the Doctors life. Though this reason for a companions departure has rarely been seen since the 1970s and would probably conflict with Doctor Whos portrayal of Clara (as well as Companions in general) as a strong and independent woman. Which makes it a less likely possibility.
