10 Weird Horror TV Shows That Are Worth Watching
6. Rabbits
David Lynch is a true legend when it comes to the surreal and the downright peculiar, and his influence is felt in many modern horrors. Rabbits stands out as one of Lynch’s most daring and bizarre pieces of TV. Whilst not marketed as horror, Rabbits cannot be easily categorised as It simply features a family of people, each with rabbit heads doing nothing in particular.
The camera is fixed in place in a room that has a couch as a centerpiece. Rabbits come and go and they talk sometimes. What they talk about is never made clear as there is not a distinguishable and coherent topic to any of the dialogue. It all makes for some very uncomfortable viewing as the confusion and the mystery never truly make sense.
There is no gore or jump scares, only the noise of industry and clanging metal in the background, with a slow and unnerving drone that constantly plays over every episode. Sometimes there’s random applause or a laugh track that's never pertinent to the scene. Lynch’s work is always open to interpretation and it is no different here.
What makes Rabbits a weird horror is its surreal and oftentimes terrifying dream-like incoherence that befuddles the viewer into a state of anxiety.
