10 'What Ifs' That Could Have Changed The Course Of Star Trek

4. ...Nemesis Had Performed At The Box Office

A Generation's Final Journey would not necessarily have begun.

Plans were already in place to make one more film in the series meaning Nemesis would not have been the final nail in the Berman-era coffin.

What Star Trek XI might have been is uncertain, but you can't imagine that it would have been without Data. So let's hold off on his sacrifice until the end of this movie and assume that XI would have seen Data as First Officer and Riker along on the USS Titan to defeat some big bad enemy.

Playing devil's advocate, the final TNG movie would have been penciled in for 2005, lining up with the end of Enterprise. That said, if Nemesis had performed well it might have been an indicator of the health of the franchise. Enterprise could have then gone to a fifth season and who knows, that could have led to more films, a new series and an extension to that era.

Manny Coto would have taken charge and that would have seen a direction change already started with Enterprise's fourth season. In turn, no Kelvin Timeline and no Kurtzman era... for the time being perhaps.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
