2. The Night Shift (Season 4 Episode 4)
In this episode, there is a cameo appearance from New Girl's Zooey Deschanel in a Brooklyn 99 crossover. At the 99th precinct, moral is low when the squad are put on the night shift and Holt tries to boost everyone's moods.
What sucks: What happens if you add the hilarious New Girl, and Brooklyn 99 together? You'd think the result would be incredible but, unfortunately, it just felt painfully unnecessary and a way for each show to advertise themselves and gain more viewers from each other. Had it been a full cross over with the entire New Girl cast, there would have been more opportunity for gags but shoehorning Zooey Deschanel in there just felt lazy.
What didn't suck: Holt doing his best to raise spirits by throwing a party and putting on a Sousa march declaring him the Skrillex of his time. Diaz is specifically great in this episode: first when she tells Jake there has been some cyber crime in that she found a drunk guy humping his laptop and second when she adds some emotional depth to the episode by confessing to Amy that she goes to a specific bench everyday in the hopes that Pemento will return.
