The multi Doctor episodes have generally been a sure fire hit, with the interaction between the different personas sparking great dialogue and equal measures of tension and comedy. This was perfected in the glorious 'Day of the Doctor', with each characters flaws and eccentricities drawn out to both forward the plot, character and the scene. If ever someone needed this treatment, it was Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor, who received a visit from Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor.

Unfortunately, the episode all but wastes the return of Troughton with the baffling decision to have his character largely neutered. Rather than see the two different incarnations trading barbs throughout, Troughton is seen as effectively brainwashed, injected with an alien treatment that will make him no longer a timelord unless the treatment is removed.

While there is a semi-interesting 'race against time' component to the story, the focus on Baker's unpleasant version of the Doctor makes for a hard watch. Meanwhile the viewer waits impatiently for Troughton to add some interest and levity to the situation, but are stuck with a braindead zombie impersonation instead. Such a waste.
