If ever there was a reason for a writer to feel guilty, it would be when criticising a child actor. What would make it worse is if a really famous TV series had a long history of hiring bad child actors to play bad child characters but said writer still chose to single out one particular child actor. Well, that is what is going to happen now. Because Abisola Agbaje is on the list of the worst ever Doctor Who performances. Cue the rush of guilt. In general her performance was as bad as many other kids, but during the intense sinister moments where she was supposed to be haunting and scary all we got was an unconvincing arm fold, and absolutely nothing else. And then, when the alien possessing her starts to speak through her, we get whispering. It's hard to tell if the intent was to be sinister, or show a weak youthful alien, or maybe even just a plain abstract, but the only thing they did get was a young actress left looking out of her depth. On a much brighter note: "Night Terrors" was a far better take on the 'child whose thoughts become a dystopic reality' and is really worth another watch.
