11 Doctor Who Spin Offs That Really Should've Happened By Now

8. Torchwood: Redux

WHY: Torchwood: outside the government, beyond the police. Tracking down alien life on Earth, arming the human race against the future. The 21st century is when everything changes... which makes it all surprising that the show is no longer on the air. Fans will always remember the appeal of the show. Aimed at a more adult audience, this was a show willing to delve into the ultimate depravity of human and inhuman condition with internment camps, giant demons and Captain Jack Harkness being buried alive for several hundred years. This same appeal still exists and fans have clamoured for its return for a number of reasons, most notably to resolve old storylines, to have a show with adult themes for adults rather than just the family-centric Doctor Who and more Captain Jack. Seriously. Have you seen him? He looks like someone the Aztecs would sacrifice to their gods for their beauty. WHAT: This may once again be difficult to do right, given John Barrowman's busy schedule on Arrow and his writing and singing career, as well as Eve Myles's work on Broadchurch. However, John Barrowman has recently announced that several BBC audio plays of Torchwood will be released which may in turn lead to a renewed production of the television programme itself. There are plenty of storylines possible for a lengthy series run - the immortal guy at the end of Miracle Day, the pasts of characters, how Torchwood could survive with half their team dead, the aftermath of Miracle Day and Children of Earth, plus the usual 'monster-of-the-week' episodes. It is also possible that the Torchwood book series and other audio dramas could very well be made into episodes. It's clear that the fans are clamouring for it. Your move, BBC.
