11 Famous Faces You Never Knew Were Doctor Who Fans
9. David Beckham
It's true. David Beckham enjoys nothing more than indulging in the ongoing escapades of everybody's favourite Time Lord and, according to reports, watching Doctor Who with his family is actually one of his favourite pastimes whenever he isn't kicking a ball about or posing for his latest H&M shoot. Perhaps even his decision to retire from football had something to do with the fact his matches were always coinciding with the Doctor's new adventures, though his spokespeople have refused to respond to that speculation. What's more, the footballer has even found himself in the running to take on the actual role of the titular Time Lord. Pretty much every name under the sun is speculated at some point or another in the build up to the reveal of every new Doctor and this reached unchartered levels of fevered speculation last year when bets on Becks came in at 250/1. The role was ultimately given to Peter Capaldi, of course, much to David's dismay, but that should be no reflection on the latter's acting ability. In his time he's made appearances in various films and TV shows, as well as being a regular on the chat show scene. He's even earned the support of Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein so it looks like David will be bypassing the confines of Saturday night teatime drama to go straight to the big time instead. He's definitely channelling the Eleventh Doctor in the picture above at least, and if David Beckham can't make bow ties cool, who can?
