11 Famous Faces You Never Knew Were Doctor Who Fans
7. Robert Downey, Jr
A crossover episode featuring the Doctor and Iron Man is what Whovian dreams are made of but the mere fact that the latter's real life alter ego - that's Robert Downey, Jr for those of you have managed to avoid the malevolent Marvel surge of recent years - is actively aware of the Time Lord's adventures is enough to satisfy its legion of fans. Earlier this year the actor described the series as "incredible" and even revealed that he's been watching episodes as part of his research process for an upcoming film project, which sounds considerably cooler than the rest of the show's fans saying they're watching it to analyse the themes and narratives just for the sheer hell of it. Robert Downey, Jr could pretty much say anything and make it sound cool, though, so let's hope that his hint that "anything's possible" when it comes to him landing a guest role in the series becomes more than just a passing comment. Perhaps him becoming the titular Time Lord himself is somewhat of a forlorn fantasy, but he could always make a guest stint as his arch nemesis the Master. He's definitely got the facial hair for it, anyway.
