11 Famous Faces You Never Knew Were Doctor Who Fans
6. Tom Hanks
That's right. In Doctor Who's ongoing mission to take over the world, admiration for everybody's favourite Time Lord has even managed to stretch to the realms of Academy Award winning actors because Tom Hanks - star of Big, Forrest Gump, Captain Phillips (to name but a few of his iconic roles) and everyone's all around favourite deputy - has previously revealed he just so happens to be an avid follower of the Doctor's adventures. To be fair, though, Hanks' devotion to the Doctor was embedded throughout his childhood. "We got our first colour TV in 1968 and in California that meant we got all these extra channels nobody watched which were filled with Doctor Who," he revealed in an interview. "You had the guy with the big red hair and the bow tie and it looked so weird because everyone talked in English accents and there were these big salt and pepper shaker robots." Yep, Tom, that's pretty much Doctor Who in a nutshell.
