11 Famous Faces You Never Knew Were Doctor Who Fans
5. Matt Groening
If you're an avid follower of The Simpsons you'll have no doubt spotted the plethora of Doctor Who references that Matt Groening has included over the years as means to pay homage to his favourite Time Lord. The creator of the animated escapades of everybody's favourite dysfunctional family is a self confessed Fourth Doctor devotee, like many American fans who grew up at the time his adventures were becoming more prominent in the US. As such, Tom Baker has made countless appearances - scarf and all - in all his cartoon glory leaving fans to wonder when the Time Lord will be honoured with the prize of being given a fully fledged speaking role. Of course, in a show which has continuously pushed the narrative boundaries of its confined genre - a bit like Doctor Who, really - and features characters who haven't aged a day (yet celebrated a multitude of birthdays - how's that for timey-wimey?) in its 25 year history, the concept of the TARDIS materialising in Springfield isn't as far fetched as it might sound. Plus, who wouldn't want to see the Doctor's reaction to Homer Simpson, and vice versa, and an encounter between the Time Lord and Professor Frink is just waiting to happen, not to mention the Comic Book Guy who has previously admitted he's partial to a Doctor Who marathon - so long as he's in reach of 100 tacos for sufficient energy, that is. Story of our lives.
