7. All Humans Know About Aliens

While some issues with the show are specific to certain episodes or seasons, this one is an issue that resonates throughout the show's history. With so many invasions on Earth, how could anyone possibly forget that aliens exist? The Doctor was even based on Earth for large periods of time, and encountered alien threats every week, including a massive plant devouring everyone in its sight.

The writers for the rebooted series could argue that sensible continuity on this issue doesn't apply to them, but considering they have brought characters and storylines back from the original series, it's a difficult case to make. Even within the NuWho timelines, the forgetful nature of humankind is quite remarkable.

The first two series of NuWho did a reasonable job of explaining events, but there were major issues by the start of series 4, with sceptical humans around every corner in spite of major Dalek and Cybermen invasions. While the 'reboot' of the universe at the end of series 5 papered over the cracks of this issue, subsequent alien invasions by The Master, Cybermen and Zygons have all been brushed aside.

It's a constant irritation, and while the Doctor's identity should always be a secret to the new companions he encounters, having the new travellers in the TARDIS unaware of any previous alien activity just makes them look stupid.

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
