11 Great Doctor Who Moments The Writers Chickened Out Of

8. Tennant's Doctor Becomes A Narcissist

While there is some debate as to who is the actor best suited to play the Doctor, there is little doubt that David Tennant was one the greatest actors to do so. There was no better example of this than during the outstanding special episode, 'The Waters of Mars,' in which we see The Doctor transform from charismatic hero to narcissistic madman. It is a remarkable, shocking moment that had us all glued to the screens thanks to Tennant's brilliant performance. It was truly something we had never seen before and was one of the few darker moments we had seen in our titular Time Lord's history.

Unfortunately, this decision to add some light and shade into The Doctor was soon glossed over, the Time Lord resorting to the nice guy persona a little too easily in his final episode, 'The End of Time.' Sure, there is some dialogue from The Doctor about it not being fair and him taking things too far, but it's all supplementary to the remainder of the story. The episode was all set up for Tennant's Doctor continuing to 'go too far', but the fairy floss ending was a waste of a great opportunity to utilise the Scotsman's amazing acting ability one last time.

With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
