11 TV Shows That Deserved Another Season
8. Bunheads
Bunheads was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the mind behind Gilmore Girls, and the shows' shared DNA is obvious. Both have a fast-talking brunette lead with a complicated past. Both centre around the lives of teenage girls. Both feature Kelly Bishop as a problematic mother figure. And both are really very good.
However, while Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons and is due to come back for an eighth, Bunheads was cancelled after just the one. Despite the charming performances of Sutton Foster and the younger dancers, the ballet-obsessed show struggled to reach a wide audience. Critics wrote impassioned defences of the series when it looked set for cancellation, calling it one of the best shows on TV, but to no avail. When Netflix is done producing the Gilmore Girls revival, perhaps they can take a look at Bunheads too?
