Doreen Mantle appeared in two episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures (comprising the serial Eye of the Gorgon) as Mrs. Randall. To many viewers, she would've been best known for the eighteen episodes of One Foot In The Grave she performed in, playing Mrs. Warboys.

Mantle was South African born, though spent the first few years of her life moving back and forth between South Africa and the UK. She appeared in many theatre productions, leading to her receiving a Lawrence Olivier Award for Best Actress In A Supporting Role, for her part in Death Of A Salesman.

She would also be in many BBC and ITV productions, and did a lot of work in Radio Dramas as well. She was quoted as saying she went into acting as a means of making a living, which to her great surprise, she earned. She died in August 2023, at 97 years of age.
