12 Awesome Cartoon Christmas Specials To Get You In The Festive Mood

6. The Jetsons €“ A Jetson Christmas Carol (1985)

Xm4 Going the traditional route of adapting a classic, as the name suggests 'A Jetson Christmas Carol' draws heavily from the Charles Dickens original. This is made successful by the change to a futuristic setting and a character that fits Scrooge role perfectly, Mr. Spacely. Astro takes ill after swallowing a gear while Jane and the kids do some last-minute Christmas shopping. George, who has been forced to work late, is devastated when he learns of what has happened as all of the vets are closed leaving no help available for Astro's predicament. While this is going on Mr. Spacely is visited by three ghosts: Past, Present and... well you know the drill. He learns the error of his ways and having been warned of the consequences of Astro's death by the ghosts he seeks to make amends. Arriving at the Jetson house with his personal veterinarian, who cures the Jetson's beloved pooch, he presents the family with gifts before promising George a generous raise in pay and wishing them all a Merry Christmas. It's classic Christmas viewing, taking a well known story and doing a solid job of adapting it. The story ends with the Jetsons singing 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' and if that doesn't leave you feeling festive, nothing will.
