12 AWFUL TV Shows Doctor Who Actors Want You To Forget

8. Another Life - Samuel Anderson

Of all the shows on this list, this was one that squandered an exceptional premise. The big budget Netflix Sci-Fi series started off in a similar manner to critically praised films such as Arrival and Annihilation, with a mysterious alien artefact arriving on Earth and sending Government organisations into a spin. Unfortunately this is where the similarities stop, a plodding and often nonsensical storyline that is cheesy and devoid of fun.

Similar to Mbatah-Raw's casting in Undercovers, Samuel Johnson's ability to land a significant role in what loomed as a blockbuster US TV event seemed like a big moment for the former Who companion. Johnson was a fan favourite as Danny Pink in the 8th season of NuWho, Clara Oswald's love interest who left the show far too soon. In Another Life, Johnson plays a sentient AI aboard the spaceship Salvare, which is sent out to explore the origins of the artefact and ultimately attempt to save mankind.

Unfortunately all the characters in the show, including Johnson's, are one dimensional and lacking in charisma, making for a painful slog of a first series. As noted by critics, the show failed to encapture any of the qualities of the products it was trying to emulate. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 6%, it's fair to say that there will need to be significant improvement in the second series to save this turkey.
