6. Selfie - Karen Gillan

As anyone who has had the misfortune of even watching the trailer for this show, there really isn't anything good to say about the woeful premise for this stinker. Karen Gillan took the lead role for this turkey, which tried to dress itself up as a My Fair Lady for the modern generation, but instead came across like a poor lady's Clueless. Where as that 90's hit film had some clever and insightful comments to make about fame and fashion obsessed women, this show is just far too heavy handed in delivering its message.

The extremely over the top performance by Gillan as the 'selfie' obsessed Eliza Dooley is a complete misread of the Doolittle character she is meant to be imitating, as Ms Dooley is already obsessed with her social status. Eliza starts off as an intolerable character that we despise from the start, and the show never allows us to truly get behind the narcissistic characteristics of the lead.

Gillan isn't the only talented cast member wasted here, with the normally funny John Cho bizarrely cast as a stiff workaholic executive. The role seems like it would have been far more suited for a prim and proper Englishman, with Cho's normal brilliant comic energy deliberately curtailed when the show desperately needed his spark.
