Okay, so admittedly any viewers over the age of eight may need a shot of insulin after watching this super-saccharine adaptation of author James Gurney’s classic children’s series, a string of novels which envision a secret idyllic island whereupon humans and dinosaurs survive and prosper in harmony. Produced by Disney and Hallmark, this insanely expensive family series took a vintage fusion of sci-fi and fantasy adventure and infused it with then-cutting edge and now-adorably quaint FX.

Filmed in the famous Pinewood Studios and starring future Prison Break hero Wentworth Miller, this sweet show makes for a charming, warm hearted diversion amidst some harder edged sci-fi fare. Particularly solid viewing for younger sci-fi fans beginning their excursion into the genre, this show didn’t deserve the ignominy of being forgotten as fast as it was immediately after the 2002 release of the miniseries.
