12 TV Deaths You Knew Were Coming (That Still Broke You)
2. Hank - Breaking Bad
Having started out the show as a brash, bullying macho man, DEA Agent Hank Schrader gradually becomes one of Breaking Bad's most complex and few good guys left standing by the time his death does eventually come in the show's final season.
This mineral-loving hero goes through his fair share of scrapes across the seasons, narrowly escaping encounters against Tuco Salamanca and his cousins most notably, and slowly learns how to become a more gentle and empathetic character that audiences are encouraged to like more than any other. Overcoming everything from shootouts to the losing the use of his legs, most viewers would be forgiven for thinking that Hank was invincible by the time he has his standoff with Jack and Walt in the desert.
Outgunned and outmanned, there's a serious inevitability about Hank's final moments, however even the great Heisenberg is lured into thinking (for a brief moment at least) that there might be a way out of this for Hank. Agent Schrader is on hand however to remind both Walt and the audience that people like Jack aren't easily talked down, and the hillbilly maniac ends the scene with a truly gut-wrenching gunshot.
