12 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

2. Castle Rock

Stephen King's works have gifted us with plenty of memorable movie and TV adaptations over the years and Castle Rock was shaping up to be another one of them.

Produced by both King and J.J. Abrams, the Hulu original offered up new and compelling tales set within the author's infamous fictional Maine town. It was an anthology series, with the first season starring André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Bill Skarsgård, Jane Levy and Sissy Spacek and focusing on the arrival of a mysterious young man in Shawshank Penitentiary who seems to set in motion a series of troubling events in a town already submerged in darkness.

The second featured Lizzy Caplan, Paul Sparks, Barkhad Abdi and Elsie Fisher and centred on a troubled nurse who finds herself stuck in the town and is willing to do whatever she deems necessary to protect her family - something the show had no problem pushing boundaries to showcase.

No reason was given as to why it was cancelled but King fans can seek some solace in the fact that there are other King-inspired shows coming to screens in the near-future, including CBS All Access' The Stand and Apple TV's adaptation of Lisey's Story.
