The CW

Gossip Girl was a teen drama series, which aired from 2007 and 2012 on The CW. The show was based on a book series of the same name by Cecily von Ziegesar, and it starred a plethora of actors and actresses currently blowing up Hollywood.

Kristen Bell voiced the narrator/omniscient blogger, otherwise known as "Gossip Girl." She was joined in the cast by Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, and many more. A sequel series has been greenlit for streaming on HBO Max, and it will likely air when that streaming service goes live in the Spring of 2020.

The new series will pick up eight years after the events of the previous series, and will essentially function as a revival/seventh season. HBO Max ordered it straight to series and will air ten episodes for the new season. The show will follow a new generation of private school teens, who will fall under the watchful eye of Gossip Girl.

The show's original creator, Joshua Safran, and others are involved in the revival, but the cast may not include everyone from the original. Leighton Meester was asked in an interview if she would be on the new series, to which she answered, "I was not asked to be on it, so no." Kristen Bell has been confirmed as the voice of Gossip Girl in the new series.
