12 Worst TV Shows Of 2018
8. Splitting Up Together
And the award for Most Sitcom-y Premise of the Year unquestionably goes to Splitting Up Together, a well-meaning yet soulless examination of what happens when an unhappy married couple (Jenna Fischer and Oliver Hudson) decide to get divorced yet still live together for the sake of their kids.
Fischer is as charming as ever, but the show never really escapes the feeling it's only a step or two away from being an SNL parody, and the whole "uptight woman, boorish man" shtick is ripped straight out of a sitcom from the mid-90s.
There's definitely a decent show in here somewhere, but without sufficient humour or emotional honesty, Splitting Up Together is an absolute chore.
A second season just finished airing, where its viewership dipped to a dangerous 2.73 million (compared to season one's low of 3.53 million).
