13 Badass Doctor Who Moments That Made Us All Cheer

6. Outsmarting The Silence

The Doctor and his companions travel to 1969 where they met the Silence for the first time. The Silence are creatures that you cannot remember the moment you turn your head away from them; make it direct eye contact or video. It is that very ability that they took advantage to subtly manipulate human history to their liking. The Doctor won't have any of that, so he devised a plan involving the live Apollo 11 mission broadcast. He materializes the TARDIS to the Silence's base and confronts them. He brings out a television, to show the Apollo mission launch to the Silence, so to let them know what he have done. Turns out one of the Silence that the Doctor and his associates had previously detained, mocked the humans for treating his wounds, saying ""...you should kill us all on sight". They recorded his mocking in a phone and the Doctor had the video timed to be played in the middle of the of the Apollo mission video. Meaning, that every time a human sees one of the Silence, they will be reminded of the Apollo launch video and take measures to kill them. Cue in a montage of humanity trying to kill the Silence after just watching the video; the exact moment when the awesomeness of what the Doctor did sinked in. The Doctor also reminds the Silence that the Apollo mission is a very important part of human history, meaning, it will be played to countless generations after. In other words, the Silence are screwed.
