13 Earth-Shattering Doctor Who Moments From The Last 10 Years

5. River Revealed (A Good Man Goes To War)

River Song is quite the force to reckoned with as far as the Doctor's friends are concerned. She's currently the only one of his allies who can claim to have killed and married him and she also happens to be the offspring of two of his former companions which makes her existence even more timey-wimey. The character has remained a constant mystery for most of her tenure in the show, though. The Doctor first encountered her in his tenth incarnation during the Series 4 Library two-parter but not even he was partial to the knowledge of who she really was until he finally worked it out in the closing moments of the Series 6 mid-series finale, A Good Man Goes To War, in 2011. It took slightly longer for the penny to drop for Amy and Rory, though, and it made for one of the most memorable scenes in Doctor Who history when they finally succumbed to the knowledge that she was their daughter. The moment that had been three years in the making was, of course, interrupted by the iconic theme sting and, as the end credits rolled, fans were forced to accept the fact they'd have to wait the whole summer to learn the aftermath of River's Earth-shattering revelation. At least they were given some time to recover.
