7. The Get Down

New York of the 1970s is the setting for Netflix's The Get Down, which is being created by director Baz Luhrmann.

He's known for his visual stylings and musical choices, so seems like a good fit for this show, which will focus on a number of Bronx kids getting caught-up in the various emerging music scenes of the time, such as disco, hip-hop, and punk.

The Shield's Shawn Ryan is working alongside Luhrmann on this one, meaning there should be some substance to add to the no-doubt incredible style, and the young cast of (mostly) unknown actors are joined by Jimmy Smits and Giancarlo Esposito.

Hopefully there will be a good story here, but if nothing else it's going to look impressive, and have a killer soundtrack.

The Get Down will get down on Netflix from August 12.
