What Doctor Who needs, quite often, is a good dose of fun. And Rory's father, Brian Williams, played by Mark Williams, is pure fun through and through. This is a man who carries a trowel in his pocket. Fans saw the wonderful Brian in the episodes Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Power of Three. He's a man who will happily perch on the doorstep of the TARDIS and gaze out into space drinking tea and eating a sandwich. This is a man who will actually observe mysterious black cubes for weeks on end, because that's what the Doctor asked him to do. The Doctor needs a man like Brian around. Viewers do too. He's a laugh. And just because Amy and Rory are gone forever, that doesn't mean Brian has to go, too.
