14th Doctor Who: 10 Actors Who Could Play Russell T. Davies’ Doctor

8. Michaela Coel

Olly Alexander Doctor Who
BBC

Michaela Coel currently has the best betting odds for a female Doctor, and we won’t lie, it’s certainly a possibility.

Having made her name in UK shows such as Aliens and Chewing Gum, in which she also showcased her writing and directing talents, Coel went on to land roles in Black Earth Rising, Been So Long, and multiple episodes of Black Mirror, before creating and starring in the acclaimed I May Destroy You. Coel is also slated to appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She’s a busy woman.

It's not difficult to see why she’s a popular suggestion - she definitely has a quirky vibe that would feel at home in Who, but she may be a little too famous for the role nowadays. It also doesn’t seem like the kind of commitment she would be looking to pick-up for the long term in what is a busy time in her rapidly growing career.

Despite the odds, the jury is out on this one...
