7. Pauline Collins
Some actors have been in the business long enough to have starred in both versions of Doctor Who. Geoffrey Palmer gave a brief and dignified turn as the doomed Captain of the Titanic in Voyage of the Damned after having played two roles with Jon Pertwee in the 1970s. Another is actress Pauline Collins. In the 1960s she starred as cheeky Samantha Briggs, who helps the Doctor and Jamie fight the Chameleons in The Faceless Ones. She'd have made a great companion. Collins returned in 2006 to play Queen Victoria in David Tennant tale Tooth and Claw. Strong and imperious, Collins is brilliant as the Queen while still showing the wife mourning for her beloved husband. In a busy episode she not only gets possibly bitten by a werewolf, thus infecting the Royal Family for generations to come, but she also sets up Torchwood, giving Captain Jack his future job! Not too shabby.
